1. Try new gear
Maybe you’re in the market for a
new or different kind of paddleboard. 2019 is the year to do it. Or maybe you
wish it were easier to carry your paddleboard? Well, there are carrying straps
for that. Waterproof pouches, waistpacks, or backpacks will also make your SUP
life easier. Investing in one or a few new accessories can renew your
relationship with SUP.

2. Travel to new locations
Freshen up an old routine with a
change of scenery. It can be anything from packing your gear and driving to a
different county to going on paddleboarding destination trip. There are tons of
SUP outfitters that can set you up with everything you need – from boards to
classes to great accommodations. Just choose a location and budget and get
ready for a refreshing change where you’re likely to find some like-minded SUP
lovers.
You love paddleboarding, so why not
introduce it to a friend (or two) – especially if you know someone who’s
looking for a change of pace in their exercise routine. Perhaps you remember
your first time. What was it that made you fall in love with paddleboarding?
Share the love with someone whose company you enjoy, and you just might
end up with a new SUP pal.
With so many different types of paddleboarding,
it’s time to try something new this year: downwind, flat water, race, surf,
whitewater, fishing, yoga. The choices are almost limitless! If you live inland, take a trip to the coast and try
surfing, or if you’d like to try whitewater paddling, find an outfitter who can
take you out, so you can learn new techniques and new levels of stoke. You can even take this one step further: try paddleboarding in the winter.
Keep a journal or notebook where
you can write down your ideas. If you’re training for a competition, this is
the perfect way to track the progress you make towards your goal. Seeing your
ideas or progress on paper will help you to keep your resolutions and work
towards your next goal or adventure.
By sharing your resolutions – whatever they may be – you’ll
be more likely to keep them. In fact, we recommend that you enlist other SUP lovers
to join you in keeping your new years resolutions!
